Menard Solution
The new Kalba Waterfront Mall is developed by Eagle Hills/Shurooq in Sharjah, UAE. The site is located near the UAE/Oman border and is adjacent to the Kalba Lake. The two-story building aims to provide an indoor and outdoor destination for the visitors and surrounding local communities, including shopping facilities, restaurants and entertainment facilities.
The total area of the project is 25000 m2. The initial ground investigation performed by Menard has shown thick layers of clay which could not carry the loads of the future building. Menard proposed an economical ground improvement solution for the structure zone in order to meet the required bearing capacity, settlement control as well as to meet liquefaction requirements. The solution allowed the client to avoid the excavation of the weak upper soil which would have had a negative time, cost and environmental impact.
The project was completed and handed over to the client before the deadlines. The mall construction is ongoing and is on its final stage.
