Menard Solution

Located at the entrance of Batumi, the new bridge aims at fluidifying the traffic by building an overpass over the rail tracks going into the port and separating the main traffic from the access to the port facilities.

The geotechnical conditions in the area featuring over 18m of soft clay in part of the site, Menard proposed a solution based on the execution of Controlled Modulus Columns (vibrated method) to support the embankment reaching over 7m high and the abutments of the bridge. The solution was successfully implemented and both total and differential settlements were limited, participating to the quality of the construction and the smooth experience of drivers.
